Mark Matta, DO, DFAPA

Matta joined his father, Shoukry Matta, M.D., in private practice at Psych Med Associates in 2007. He successfully completed and received his board certification in psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology in 2008 and remains board certified to this day.​

Dr. M. Matta currently serves as the CEO and Medical Director of Psych Med Associates, P.C., as well as the Medical Director for People in Need and Community Alternatives in New Castle. He has held the position of Associate Clinical Professor at the physician assistant programs of Chatham University, the University of Mount Union, Seton Hill College, and Marietta College. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, Chatham University honored him with the Psychiatric Preceptor of the Year award in 2012 and the Clinical Preceptor of the Year award in 2013. Furthermore, he was named Best of the Best Psychiatrist by the New Castle News from 2009 to 2017, and again in 2019, 2022, and 2023.

In 2020, Dr. Matta was elected as a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, acknowledging his significant contributions to the field of psychiatry. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society and previously held the presidency of the Pittsburgh Psychiatric Society during the 2021-2022 term, where he remains an active member. Additionally, he is a member of the Lawrence County Mental Health Advisory Board and was recognized as a recipient of the Pennsylvania Medical Society’s 40 Under 40 award, celebrating physicians who have made notable contributions to their field.
