

Mark Matta, DO, DFAPA
Matta joined his father, Shoukry Matta, M.D., in private practice at Psych Med Associates in 2007. He successfully completed and received his board certification in psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology in 2008 and remains board certified to this day.​
Dr. M. Matta currently serves as the CEO and Medical Director of Psych Med Associates, P.C., as well as the Medical Director for People in Need and Community Alternatives in New Castle. He is originally from New Castle, PA and is a graduate of Neshannock High school. He completed his undergraduate education at Allegheny College and went on to obtain his medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His residency in adult general psychiatry took place at Allegheny General Hospital. Matta then joined his father, Shoukry Matta, M.D., in private practice at Psych Med in 2007. He successfully completed and received his board certification in psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology in 2008 and remains board certified to this day.​
In recognition of his devotion to teaching, Chatham University students voted him the Psychiatric Preceptor of the Year in 2012 and the Clinical Preceptor of the Year in 2013. Furthermore, the New Castle News readers voted named him Best of the Best Psychiatrist from 2009 to 2017, and again in 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2025. He is a Distinguished Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association, an elected title for those with significant contributions within the field of psychiatry.

Previously, Dr. Matta has served as the President of the Pittsburgh Psychiatric Society chapter and is currently President-elect of the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society District Branch. He resides on the Lawrence County Mental Health Advisory Board and is also a member of the PA Medical Society and the Lawrence County Medical Society. Dr. Matta was a recipient of the PA Medical Society's Inaugural 40 Under 40 Award for young physicians. He has served on multiple advisory boards and continues to consult and be a part of speaker's bureaus.
